It has occurred to me that I have shared pictures of St. Paul's Cathedral in Pittsburgh and our local Byzantine Catholic church, but none of the church of which I am a member. Shame on me!
In order to rectify this error on my part, I offer the following photographs of the inside of the Mary Mother of the Church building.
This is the Easter display located at the back of the church, near the main entrance.
Although the floral dispays this year seem rather sad compared to some that we've had in previous years, our Paschal candle is exceptionally beautiful this year.
Finally, I show you our church's simple tribute to the deceased pope. I was disappointed by it at first. I wished that it had been more elaborate, but upon seeing bits of the pope's funeral I changed my mind. Seeing the plain pine casket that he had chosen to be buried in made me realise that an elaborate display would not be what he wanted. Our money is better spent serving the living, and he knew that. And so, this simple display suddenly seemed much more beautiful in my eyes.
