Horses

1. Have you ever ridden a horse?
When I was younger I used to go riding with a friend of mine. We would rent a couple of horses at a riding stable called The Horse Emporium. Unfortunately the stable closed quite a few years ago and I haven't been riding since then.
2. What is your favorite horse story or movie?
C J Cherryh wrote a series of science fiction novels about a planet where horses formed a sort of psychological bond with owners of their own choosing. The stories were quite fascinating, but it has been a while since I read them. I can't remember what the series was called.
3. If you had the means, would you own a horse?
I love all animals, horses included. I think that it would be great to own one. This particular stallion is a favorite of mine.
He frequently waits by the fence for me when I am working. His owners have noticed how well we get along and once offered him to me as a Christmas gift. I could not accept because I live in a residential area.
4. Do you think it would be neat if we went back to everyone traveling by horse and buggy or just an inconvenience?
I am certain that some aspects of it would be great, less pollution, always having a living companion to keep you company on your way, etc., but for the most part it would slow travel and be a major inconvenience.
5. Have you ever ridden in a hansom cab?
One of the highlights of my trip to Spain in 1980 was a tour of Sevilla taken in a hansom cab.
