For some people this weekend is a chance to have that final bit of fun in the sun, but for me it is not. The only good that comes of holiday weekends for me is an extra day off work. "The estranged one" makes certain of this. I can't remember the last summer holiday when I was with my children. His family always manages to have some sort of picnic that I positively must let my children attend. If I don't, I'm viewed as some sort of evil bitch! To make matters worse, at least for me, he decides to take them to an amusement park today, leaving me left in a sea of loneliness and boredom for not one, but two whole days. Oh, how I hate him!
The internet provides little solace on these lonely days. My friends are all off enjoying themselves somewhere. My favorite memes have not updated. I am forced to look elsewhere for entertainment. Thank goodness for pay per view! A quick visit to the Direct TV website and I was watching one of the funniest movies that I've seen this year.
The movie in question, Starsky And Hutch.
The critics had panned this movie, so I knew that I would like it. I often wonder about the people who do movie reviews. It seems to me that they never like the movies that I enjoy while singing the praises of ones that would put me to sleep in the theater. But I digress...
I seldom ever missed an episode of Starsky And Hutch during my teenaged years, so I was quite curious to see how the movie was handled. I was not disappointed. I thought that the slightly satirical twist of the movie was hilarious. And the soundtrack... Talk about a blast from the past! But what I was really waiting for did not come until the end of the movie, cameo appearences by the stars of the original TV series, Paul Michael Glaser and David Soul!
If you were a fan of the original series and missed this one in theaters, don't miss the opportunity to order this one on pay per view. You won't be sorry...
