Questioning The Intelligence Of America's Censors
I've been collecting the cover photos for all of my Scorpions albums lately. This would be a much simpler process were I to have a working scanner, but I do not. It seems that my old Mustek scanner is incompatible with Windows XP. The company is defunct, so there is no way to download an updated driver. Because of this, I must find alternative ways to collect those photos.
The easiest way that I discovered to grab the images is to play a song from the CD on my computer and click the "buy this CD" link. I am then taken to MSN Music, where I am presented with an image of the album cover that is perfectly sized for my purposes (Among other things. I'll get to them later). Since the image is on Media Player, I cannot simply right click it. I must screen capture the player and crop the photo from that. What a pain!
I was finishing my collection of cover photos today, screen capturing the photos from the few missing albums. The final album on my list was this one
Deadly Sting: The Mercury Years
Now we get to the part where I tell you about some of the other things that are displayed on my player for the CD...
One of them is a track listing with links to download each of the songs, for a fee, of course!
This is the tracklisting for this album, minus one particularly odd thing, the word "explicit" after each and every song title!

Yes, this album is the recipient of the dreaded parental advisory notice!
Now, I'll concede to the fact that the prudish soccer moms of America might find SOME of these songs a bit too dirty for the virgin ears of their innocent little darlings, but Wind of Change? Under The Same Sun? I thought that these songs offer rather positive messages. And Over the Top is a guitar solo, for crying out loud!!! What the fuck do these idiots find offensive about THAT?!
But wait! There is more! The stupidity of the censors knows no bounds! This is a compilation album. All of the songs on this album, save for the last two songs on Disc Two, have appeared on other Scorpions ablums. Guess what! NONE of those other albums contain a parental advisory or any other sort of warning about explicit content!
This is truly a testament to the intelligence, or lack thereof, of the people in this country who endorse censorship...
