I can think of two music related shows, The Monkees and the Beatles cartoons. Later the people at MTV seemed to forget that the "M" in MTV stands for music and they began airing trash like Beavis And Butthead. What a waste of perfectly good airtime!
What bands do you think would be nothing without MTV?
It's ranting time!
A vast majority of the new bands and artists would be nothing without MTV (music video). Why? Because at some point in the last twenty years or so music came to be more about video than it is about music. A female artist who isn't a picture perfect sex kitten doesn't stand a chance, no matter how much talent she has. Just look at what happened to Heart when Ann Wilson got a bit chubby! Talentless tramps get all of the airplay...
The standard for male artists isn't much better, except that it is not usually the male band members strutting around half dressed. Obviously men are still largely in control in the music video industry. More good looking, scantily clad men in music videos would definitely bring me joy!
