As the Christmas season draws to a close, the reindeer and Santas are being replaced by something new, The Terrible Towel.
If you are not from the Pittsburgh area, you are probably wondering, "What the hell is that?" I can't remember its exact origins, but I can tell you that the waving of these gold and black towels was started by local sportscaster, Myron Cope back in the glory days of the Pittsburgh Steelers inthe 1970's. They really caught on as a way of showing support for the local team and now can be found hanging in windows, on car antennae, and just about anyplace one can hang a towel. What can I say. I think that it might possibly be a capital crime to live in this area and not be a Steelers fan. I have even jumped on the bandwagon and bought myself a Steelers sweatshirt.
