It's election day, 2004 here in the U. S. I hope that all of my American friends who are of voting age went out and made their choices today. I know that I did, for if you do not make your opinions known today, you have no right to complain for the next four years. If there is any doubt in anyone's mind as to the candidate who received my vote, I offer the following little ditty which I sang on the way to the polling place today. It is sung to the tune of We Love You Birdie.
We love John Kerry
Oh yes we do
We hope he wins today
Or we'll be blue
Let's tell George W.
You're through!
John Kerry we love you!
I fear the results of today's election. The whole campaign this year felt like a civil war to me. I know that a lot of my fellow bloggers support George W. Bush. I offer you the following food for thought on why I chose to support John Kerry...
Our nation was led into an unjust war by the current leadership. Saddam Hussein had no ties to Al Quaeda and no weapons of mass destruction. American soldiers and innocent Iraqi citizens died, for what?
Did you know that President Bush received a report in August of 2001 which stated that Osama Bin Laden was determined to attack on American soil, most likely using hijacked planes. Why did he choose to ignore this? Could it be because of his and his family's business dealings with the Bin Laden family?
Approximately 60% of American soldiers support the re-election of their current commander in chief. Those sound like pretty impressive numbers, unless one truly understands the military mindset. These people are ones who are willing to blindly follow the orders of their commander in chief. (This one of the reasons why Lady Starlight never joined the military, in spite of the fact that she has great respect for all who have served in the military of this nation. Following orders is not one of my greatest abilities. I would have been court martialed!) I have to wonder why the number of Bush supporters among military voters is not higher, perhaps 75, 80, or even 90%. Why do approximately 40% of our soldiers not want to re-elect their current commander in chief?
George W. Bush chaims to be Pro Life. He is NOT! He supports the death penalty. He sent American troops into an unjust war. To be truly pro life, one must respect the right to life of all people, the innocent, the not so innocent, and even the guilty!
On national security, let us examine the word "terrorism." The root word is terror i. e. fear. Terrorism is not about the initial atrocities committed by the perpetrators, but rather about the fear that ensues. Our president has done an excellent job of playing right into the terrorist's hands, hasn't he? Osama Bin Laden, our nation's real enemy, remains at large. Why? Because the only national security that our president cares about is that of his own pocketbook!
With this in mind, I hope all of you Bush supporters get a good night's rest tonight. I know that I will, because I voted for John Kerry!
