Today at work I found myself caught in the middle of a manhunt! No, I am unfortunately not referring to the kind that ends with something like this:
Oh,no! This manhunt involved something more like this:
It seems that a certain felon on parole was suspected of several break-ins and robberies and was wanted for questioning. When local police spotted him in the town where I work he fled...
Straight for my freaking mail route!!!
He and his accomplice abandoned their car somewhere near the mid-point of my route. The accomplice surrendered to police, but the armed and dangerous suspect fled into the woods. I knew nothing of this as I approached the area. The situation had begun after I left the office for my route. Postal vehicles do not have radios. I could see see several police cars blocking the road ahead and assumed that there had been an accident. When I saw state troopers there along with local police, I began to feel a bit nervous. I was directed out of the area by police who told nothing of what was going on. A nearby curiosity seeker filled me in on what was going on. Terror set in. I was going to be driving around in a vehicle with a huge window, wide open in an area where an armed and dangerous criminal was on the loose. I was never so happy in all my life as I was when I got back to the office today.
At the time of this post, the suspect has still not been apprehended. It is said that he was seen near a cemetary not far from here. I hope they catch him soon. I'm not easily frightened, but this really scares me!
