There's a twist to this week's meme, it's an either/or...or both selection!
And the choices are...
Top five songs by Irish artists/or songs with an Irish/celtic feel to them.
Lady Starlight ain't Irish. Never has been and never will be, not even on St. Patrick's Day! What's worse is that other than Elvis Costello and The Devlins, she doesn't know who is.. Bearing that in mind, I think I'll pass on this option.
Top five silly songs
Now, here's an option I can really sink my teeth into!
1. Priscilla - The Scorpions It's about a cockroach, for crying out loud!
2. The Turkey Song - The Damned "There's a turkey in the house. Get it out!"
3. Don't Eat The Yellow Snow - Frank Zappa "Watch out where the huskies go, and don't you eat that yellow snow!"
4. Wildwood Weed - Jim Stafford Or just about any song that he's done. Mr. Stafford is a master of silliness!
5. Your Auntie Grizzelda - The Monkees I love this silly ditty by the "Pre-fab Four!"
Top Five Irish Drinking Songs
Unfortunately, I don't know any Irish drinking songs, but if there are any Irishmen out there who'd like to take me out to the pub, I'd be more than willing to learn some!
Point of interest: I read somewhere that the melody of U.S. National Anthem, The Star Spangled Banner, originally belonged to an Irish drinking song. That would explain a lot of things... Like why you have to be drunk to appreciate its screaching melody!
