Take Me Back Tuesday
Let's just call this week's meme "Days Of Future Past" and Justin Hayward can come flog us for royalties on that phrase later.
1. What decade to you shaped your musical taste and why?
I'm not certain that my musical taste was shaped by the music of any single decade. I learned to love music in the late sixties and early seventies. I have a vast collection of vinyl albums from that time period, all genres from bubble gum music to hard rock to country and folk. But my passion for The Scorpions and all things metal definitely has its roots in the eighties.
2. What song best defines the decade that you chose?
I'm going with the eighties, since the music of the seventies was so diverse that no single song could define the music of that decade. Because of the vast number of what have been dubbed "hair metal bands" that appeared on the scene in the eighties, I'd have to say that the decade is most clearly defined by The Scorpions' Rock You Like A Hurricane. A close second would be Def Leppard's Rock Of Ages.
3. What is your favorite song from that decade. (If it's the same as your answer for number two..tell us why)
My favorite song from the eighties is definitely The Scorpions' No One Like You. Although Rock You Like A Hurricane is a decade defining rock 'n roll anthem, I chose this one as my favorite because of the video which contains a very scantily clad Klaus Meine!
And yet another screen shot of his cute little bum in those Speedos...
