"A wonderful thing about a book, in contrast to a computer screen, is that you can take it to bed with you." ~ Daniel J. Boorstein ~
This week, a few random queries about the places where we do our best reading.
1. Do you read in bed before you go to sleep? What do you normally read in bed (books, magazines, the paper, etc.)? Tee hee! I keep a Musician's Friend catalog at my bedside. I must read about and drool over that white Gibson 76 Explorer every night before I retire. I have also been known to look through other catalogs in bed at night. It makes for pleasant dreams.
2. Where is your favorite place in your home to read? In my house I like to sit on the sofa at the end nearest the table lamp, feet up, of course. Nice and cozy...
3. Do you ever read in the bathroom/bathtub? Doesn't everybody?!
4. Are you in the habit of carrying a book around with you in your purse/car/etc., in case you're stuck waiting somewhere? There are several railroad crossings on my route. The trains that pass through move quite slowly, taking at least ten minutes to pass. In the summertime they are much more frequent, so I often carry a book in my purse during the summer months to ward of the boredom that occurs when they pass through.
5. Are you able to read with background noise, or do you have to read in complete silence? I am an odd one. I must have some sort of background noise when I read. Total silence is quite the distraction for me. My mind wanders in order to fill the void created by the lack of noise.
Bonus: If you were to be stranded on a desert isle and could only take one book with you, which one would it be and why? I would take a book of blank pages to fill with tales of my experiences on the island. If I am rescued, I can sell the stories and become rich. If I die on the island, the book can be my legacy when my remains are found.
