Remakes - we see them more and more frequently. Taking an old movie and completely reshooting it with a new cast, new effects, new styles and even new genres can be a hit or miss proposition. This summer we've seen several remakes already, from The Stepword Wives to The Manchurian Candidate, plus there's even an Alfie remake in production.
1. What is your favorite remake of an older film? Did it actually improve on the original? I'm a big fan of Disney films. They've done a lot of updated versions of their older movies. One of the best is The Parent Trap.
Perhaps choosing Dennis Quaid to play the father had a large effect on my choosing this movie as my favorite remake!
2. What remake was handled so poorly even if the original was not great it would've seemed Oscar-worthy? Disney also holds the title for the worst remake that I've ever seen. The remake of That Darn Cat barely resembled the original picture. The storyline and characters were changed a little too much. I didn't like it at all!
3. Are there any classic films you feel would cause the fabric of space/time to rip apart were a remake made of it? I think that the gods of the movie theaters would be greatly angered if anyone even attempted to remake Gone With The Wind.
BONUS~ What film would you most like to see remade, and what would be your dream cast? Since I'm such a fan of Disney movies, I'd like to see them give Mulan another go, this time as a live action flick. Jackie Chan and Jet Li would absolutely have to have parts in this movie. I'm not certain about the rest of the cast, but it would provide an excellent opportunity for any up and coming Aisian actors and actresses!
