It Has Begun!

I was delighted, but just a little bit disappointed yesterday when I got my very first Christmas gift from a postal cutomer this year. Nick and Betty had given me a nice check inside a Christmas card, so why was I even a little bit disappointed? The gift was not from Audrey! Allow me to explain:

Every year since I started working on this route (this year is the eighth), Audrey has always been the very first person to give me a Christmas gift. When someone beat her to the draw yesterday, I began to worry. Perhaps she was ill...

I need not have worried. Today, this was waiting for me in her mailbox.

Inside was a vanilla scented Christmas pillar candle and holder. Audrey knows that I love vanilla. Thank-you, Audrey dear!

I guess that I can still say that she was first this year. She DID give me my first non-monetary gift, after all!
