I couldn't tell you how many times I've seen that and giggled, but it is really a serious matter. Sometimes I begin to think that there is no one out there who knows how to spell anymore. Surfing blogs, even those of friends, I frequently find the most horrible spelling errors. It makes me cringe. Doesn't anyone know how to use Spell Check? For crying out loud, there is one built into Blogger! Most certainly it will spit out proper names and such, but that is what the ignore button is for. Use it, people! You'll look so much more intelligent if you do.
Before you start calling me a Grammar Nazi bitch (even though I confess to being one), allow me to tell you that I am not referring to the occasional typographical error, or spelling errors by those for whom English is a second language. I'm talking about well educated folks who should know better....
Here are some example of the types of misspellings I see on a regular basis. These are just examples and are not taken from anyone's blogs...
"My friend earns more money then I do." The correct word is than.
"I am definately going to her party." No, you are definitely going.
"Your not in the first row." Think about that one. Your means belonging to you. You want the contraction for you are, you're!
"I like to take quizes." Double your Zs, please! The word is quizzes.
ARGH! Just typing those examples caused me pain. I hope that I haven't offended anyone, but I just HAD to vent.
