Monday Madness

More questions from participants this week!

1. Small town or big city?
My finances dictate that I must live in this small hell hole town, but if money were not an object, I'd prefer to live in a big city.

2. Do you have a favorite childhood memory, and if so, would you share it?
Remember what I said last week about liking to be the center of attention....?
Well, when I was a kid, I liked to torture my family by putting on a one person Christmas Pageant on Christmas Eve!
(LOL)
Andrea is so lucky! I'd outgrown this by the time she was born...

3. How do you calm down when something has really upset and/or angered you? Do you swallow it? Call a friend and rant? Go in the bathroom and cry? Punch a wall? Walk around muttering to yourself, complete with scary hand gestures?
Ummmm.... before or after I explode?
Cursing is good. I find the dreaded F word to be a great stress reliever! Loud metal music also helps. I particularly like Hair of the Dog by the Michael Schenker Group...
"Now you're messin' with a son of a bitch..."
Cursing and loud metal music. It doesn't get any better than that!

4. What attratcs you to memes?
Something to blog about and an opportunity to see my friends' answers

5. How reliant are you on computers to get through your day?
Well let's see...
At work: Most mail is distibuted by a computerized system. If the postal computers all crashed, we'd be in deep doo-doo!

At home: I play my music on my computer. I communicate with friends and family on my computer. I play games on my computer...

To put it simply, I'd be lost without my computers....

6. In a crisis, are you calm or do you panic?
I am always calm during a crisis. It's afterwards that I go to pieces, a sort of delayed reaction shock...

It's time to recap my weekend once again!

10 songs that sum up your weekend...or were on your weekend playlist...and one picture that relates back.
(oh, and if you feel like it, tell us why you picked the songs you did)

It has been a busy weekend for me and my camera, but nothing caps off a busy weekend better than a freaky mix of music.
Let's see what shuffle play had for me this week...

1. The Zoo -The Scorpions
2. Obsession -The Scorpions
3. Wild Is The Wind - Bon Jovi
4. Jamaica Jerk Off - Elton John
5. High 'N' Dry (Saturday Night) - Def Leppard
6. Fallen Angel - Poison
7. Get Out Of My Mind - Paul Revere & The Raiders
8. The Ride - Michael Schenker Group
9. Your Wildest Dreams - The Moody Blues
10. All Right Now - Free

You've gotta admit that it doesn't get more random than this!

And now for the picture...

"Look, Mommy, it's the next cat!"

The fall flower show at Phipps Conservatory was beautiful, but there were too many small children there for my liking.

Top Five On Friday

Top five songs that scare you

1. The Star Spangled Banner - The U.S. national anthem

This song is quite scary because NO ONE can sing its gawd-awful melody and sound good.

2. Blackout - The Scorpions
Besides having lyrics that hit just a little bit too close to home for me, the sound of shattering glass at the end of this song always scares the crap out of me!

3. Tower - Michael Schenker Group
This song was written in 1998, but the lyrics seem to indicate that Kelly Keeling has some oddly psychic powers...
"If they don't understand, we're burning the towers..."

4. The Girl Is Mine - Paul McCartney & Michael Jackson
The artist combination, the lyrics, just plain creepy!

5. I Will Always Love You - Whitney Houston
All of that wailing and howling is enough to scare anybody!

Take Me Back Tuesday

This week we're singing the blues...

Three songs

Story Of The Blues - Gary Moore
Blues Power - Eric Clapton
Blue Bayou - Linda Ronstadt

Three artists

Eric Clapton
Gary Moore

(two artists who do bluesy music)

The Moody Blues

(one with blues in the name)

Three albums

Blues Alive - Gary Moore
Blue Moves - Elton John
Still Got The Blues - Gary Moore

I'd like to dedicate this week's meme to friend and former co-worker, Damon, who recently passed away, due to my favorite memory of our time working together.

It was the day after some holiday. I can't remember which one. Noon was rapidly approaching and we were all still in the office, sorting our mail which was stacked everywhere. Damon was at his case with headphones on, singing his heart out...

Eva, who was postmaster at that time, approached him and asked, "Do you really think that you should be singing with all of this mail that still has to be sorted?"

He looked at her all sweet and innocent and said, "Why, Mrs. Johnson, would it be okay if I sing the blues?"

We still laugh about this one quite frequently

Rest in pece, my friend.
You will be missed.

Monday Madness

This week, 5 more questions from our fellow participants!

1. Dramas or comedies?
There is not enough laughter in life. I prefer comedies.

2. Your neighbor has frequent noisy parties on nights before you need to get up early. Do you confront him directly, call the police, call your landlord, join in the debauchery, or seethe quietly and do nothing?
Since noise is something that I actually need to get to sleep (I'm strange, I know), I would probably thank the guy, after joining in the debauchery, of course!

3. Are you more comfortable in big crowds or small groups?
The truth be told, I'm most comfortable where I can be the center of attention. That's more likely to happen in a small group, but I'm not averse to a large crowd if the conditions are met.

4. Do you prefer Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox?
I am not qualified to answer the question. I have no experience with Firefox. I've never had the desire to download another browser, since IE works just fine for me.
What I do know is that all of my html coding is written for IE and that certain IE codes do not work in Firefox....

5. They say you learn something new every day. What new thing did you learn today?
I learned not to believe everything that "they" say!
Who the hell are "they" anyway?!

I Bought It On Ebay!

Ever since hearing Kelly Keeling's vocals on Michael Schenker's The Unforgiven, I've been itching to hear some more.

Last year, Kelly released his very first solo album, Giving Sight To The Eye

I searched high and low, on the internet, in used record stores, just about everywhere you could think of, but the only place where I was able to find a copy was on Ebay.

I was loathe to make the purchase there because the seller is located in the U.K. and the shipping costs more than the CD, but I have given up hope of finding this CD anywhere else.

God bless that "Buy It Now" link!

I wonder how long it will take the CD to arrive...

I wonder if there are any lovely photos of Kelly included with it...

Kelly Wayne Keeling is some definite eye candy!!!

Top Five On Friday

Top Five Worst Songs by Your Favorite Artist

1. This Time - The Scorpions

Some real kick ass music is destroyed by Matthias Jabs' inability to write lyrics! "Tainted love", ARGH!

2. Send Me An Angel - The Scorpions & The BerlinPhilharmonic Orchestra
There is nothing worse than a band killing one of it's own songs by adding a guest vocalist. The only person who should be singing this song is KLAUS!!!!

3. She Said - The Scorpions
A sappy ballad, BLECH! If Klaus wants to do songs like this, he should put them on a solo album.

4. Loving You Sunday Morning - The Scorpions
One of the few Scorpions songs that I have featuring Michael Schenker as lead guitarist. I actually like the song. It's the mix that I obect to. Really, Rudolf, muting your brother's guitar work is just disgusting, a true testament to the fact that it wasn't really his problems with addiction that caused you to replace him in the band. It was your professional jealousy!

5. Daddy's Girl - The Scorpions
Someone get me a razor blade! This song is a real wrist slasher.

I am also easily entertained by guitars...

Monday Madness

This week's challenge comes from trista. Thank you, Trista!

Name 10 things you would do if you had more time.

1. Spend quality time with my guitars. We really do need to spend more time together!

2. Write more music and finish the songs that I've already started. See #1...

3. Have some fun with food. In other words, cook up a storm! I've often said that Lady Starlight does not cook. This is not so much because I don't like to, but more because I don't have the time. There are so many good things that I'd love to try making!

4. Travel the world, first stop, Germany! Of course, this would also require me having more money....

5. Finish some of the many incomplete stories lurking on my hard drive.

6. MAJOR HOUSECLEANING! I'm such a slob, and cleaning is always the last thing on my to do list.

7. Read some of the many unread books lurking about my house.

8. Do some cross-stitching. Before I sold my soul to the USPS I loved doing this!

9. Try out every Margarita night in the greater Pittsburgh area! That's the alcoholic in me speaking...

10. Wash my car. I never seem to have time to do that...

After a day of romping about Idlewild Park's Hallowboo, some random music from my media player is quite relaxing!

1. I Don't Live Today - Michael Schenker Group
2. I Don't Know - Paul Revere & The Raiders
3. Hold On - Eric Clapton
4. Tuesday Afternoon - The Moody Blues
5. Since You've Been Gone - Rainbow
6. Still Loving You (Acoustica) - The Scorpions
7. Rock Of Ages - Def Leppard
8. The City - Jimmy Buffett
9. Here Comes My Girl - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers
10. Amanda - Boston

Gotta love those weird mixes!

And now for the picture...

I just love the slimey green fountain found in Idlewild Park only during the Hallowboo festivities!

Top Five On Friday

Top Five Album Titles

1. Be Aware Of Scorpions - Michael Schenker Group

Michael harbors no resentments over being replaced in his brother's band...
Or does he?!

2. Alias Pink Puzz - Paul Revere & The Raiders

What the fuck is pink puzz?!

3. Love At First Sting - The Scorpions

The first of many scorpion related, punny titles...
and also the best.

4. The Unforgiven - Michael Schenker Group

Released the year that Michael's father died, I think that there is a message in this title that most people miss...

5. You Can Tune A Piano, But You Can't Tuna Fish - REO Speedwagon

It's been a while since I've done one of these posts, so here goes!

EEK! Giant spiders have invaded the Eldora section of my route!

This week it's all about music that makes you feel better when you're under the weather.

Three songs

1. Obsession - The Scorpions
2. At The End Of The Day - Michael Schenker
3. Doctor Doctor - Michael Schenker Group

Three artists

1. The Scorpions - Of course!
2. Michael Schenker - Solo or with his band
3. "Weird Al" Yankovic - 'Cos laughter is good medicine!

Three albums

1. Adventures Of The Imagination - Michael Schenker
2. Pure Instinct - The Scorpions
3. Eye II Eye - The Scorpions

Of course, none of this has been tested, since I am never sick, but if I was this is what I'd want to be listening to!

Monday Madness

More questions from meme participants this week, with the last question coming from little ol' me!

1. Name three people you would pick (and why) if you could choose who to be stranded on a deserted island with.
I only want two people with me on the deserted island, and both of them are named Michael! I want my youngest son with me because he is good at cooking, sewing and all manner of domestic sorts of things. He'd be certain to be able to keep me and the other Michael fed and clothed (when we want to be) for the duration. The other Michael with me on that island would, of course, be Michael Schenker....
With the amount of child support that he has to pay, I'm sure we won't be stranded for very long. Lots of people will be looking for him!
But it'll be fun while it lasts!

2. What is your favorite genre of film and what is your favorite movie from that genre?
I love sci-fi flicks. As for a favorite, it's a toss-up between two Star Wars films, Revenge Of The Sith and Return Of The Jedi.

3. Which country would you like to visit and why?
Oh come now! Isn't the answer obvious? If I can ever get enough bucks together, I'm heading straight for Germany. It's probably the only way I'll ever get to see The Scorpions in concert, considering their aversion to the eastern U.S.

4. What are you driving these days? What's it's good and bad points? Would you buy another one, and why or why not?

This is Candace, my 1996 Chevy Cavalier.
She was cheap, she gets good gas milage, and she's RED!
What more could I ask for?
A real car CD player would be nice. Perhaps I'll get her one for Christmas...

I bought her because I liked "the estranged one's" Cavalier while I had it.
Alas, Chevy no longer manufactures this model...

5. "Lost," "24," or both?
Neither. BLECH!

6. You've been very good this year. What should Santa bring you for Christmas? (the sky is the limit)

Michael Schenker! I promise to take REAL good care of him, and never ever ask for anything else....
