Another year has nearly gone by. It doesn't seem that long ago that we were ringing in 2005, now it is coming to a close. Where has all of the time gone? As a child I remember thinking that the year 2000 was so far away, now it is but a fond and distant memory. Time really does pass in a wink of the eye....
I'm feeling a bit melancholy... Perhaps a bit of New Year's Eve partying will cheer me.
But before any partying begins, I 'd like to offer this bit of lyrical brilliance from The Scorpions as a warning to all of the party animals out there, myself included!
Blackout
I realize I missed a day I'm too wrecked to care anyway I look around and see this face What the hell have I lost my taste Don't want to find out Just want to cut out
My head exploders, my ears ring I can't remember just where I've been The last thing that I recall I got lost in a deep black hole Don't want to find out Just want to cut out
Blackout I really had a blackout
Blackout I really had a blackout
Blackout I really had a blackout
Blackout I really had a blackout
I grab my things and make a run On my way out, another one Would like to know before I stop Did I make it or did I flop Don't want to find out Just want to get out
Blackout I really had a blackout
Blackout I really had a blackout
Blackout I really had a blackout
Blackout I really had a blackout
Don't want to find out Just want to get out
Blackout I really had a blackout
Remember these lyrics well, my friends, and have a great New Year!

Shivering!
I'm cold. What I don't understand is why. The ol' Weather Pixie tells me it's not all that cold outside, and my thermostat is set at 70° F. I really should not be cold. I hope that I'm not coming down with something. It would be terrible if I was. I have a week off work starting on Sunday. I don't want to spend it being sick!
Perhaps looking at this will warm me up...
Such a cute little tushie! And he's right where I want him! I'd love to drag him under that blanket and...
1. I'm Leaving You - The Scorpions Keep that resolution, Klaus. Leave your scary looking wife!
2. Never Goin' Home - Wild Horses That's OK, guys, you can stay with me!
3. Peace In Our Time - Gorky Park Wouldn't it be great if we could all keep this resolution?!
4. Never Again - Nickelback A resolution we've all made, and not kept...
5. I Won't Back Down - Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers A resolution which when made should always be kept.

Random Thoughts For Today
My living room is turning into a freaking forest! More and more Christmas trees seem to be taking up residence there! First I bought an odd red cone-shaped tree and a spiral lighted tree at a WalMart post-Christmas sale, now "the estranged one" brought me a fiber optic tree that he found on sale somewhere, because he knew that I liked the one that his mother has. I find myself sitting here, being mesmerized by its pretty lights!
Have a peek at the forest...
It's a shame that the camera just can't seem to capture the pretty fiber optic lights.
I am still feelihg the love at work. I collected three more Christmas gifts today. Two of them had notes attached, apologizing for their lateness. Better late than never, I say. Besides, the true Christmas celebration lasts until the Feast of the Epiphany on January 6, so technically the gifts aren't late!
My pants are falling down! At first I thought that they might be an older pair, so I checked the size tag. They were not, they are a recently purchased pair of size 8s! I guess that the next pair of jeans that I buy will have to be a size 6. I can hardly believe it. I haven't worn a size that small since I was in junior high school. I think I'll celebrate with a cookie!
My friend, Pam, stopped by tonight. We ordered a pizza. While we waited for it to be delivered, she started cleaning my house. I can now see the top of my vanity. There's hope for this slob yet. We plan to do some more cleaning while I'm off work next week. It's so much better to do things like that with a friend. I love her, really, I do!

A New Photo Meme!
A new photo meme has been started by some folks calling themselves The Foto Pherrets. I wonder who they could be...
The rules are simple:
Each week a random word will be posted. Foto Pherrets are to go forth and ferret out a photo that they think suits that word! It may be one they've taken themselves or one that they've found some other way, the Foto Pherrets don't care!
Once the photo is selected it is to be posted on players' blogs with a little bit about why it was chosen. Players are asked to be creative, but most of all to HAVE FUN!
In honor of the spirit of the season, this week's word is:
Holiday
I chose this photo for several reasons. The first is the great popularity of giant infatable lawn figurines that seems to have overtaken the world this holiday season. I also chose it because I have always loved the Peanuts holiday specials, and Snoopy is my all-time favorite Peanuts character. Just look at how beautifully ol' Snoopy has decorated his doghouse/sopwith camel for the holidays!
Sorry, Snoopy. As much as I love you, I'm afraid I'll be rooting for The Red Baron! You see, he was quite beautiful, and most of all HUMAN!
What are a few of you favorite albums from last year?
All The Right Reasons - Nickelback
Prairie Wind - Neil Young
Dead Ahead - Wild Horses
Lovely To See You (Live from The Greek) - The Moody Blues
What are a few of your current favorite songs? I'll try REAL hard not to make this a list of all Scorpions' songs...
When Will It End - Wild Horses Soul Behind The Face - The Scorpions I'm Sorry - Justin Hayward Edge Of Time - The Scorpions Like A Hurricane - Neil Young Run So Far - George Harrison Bang! - Gorky Park Don't Need A Reindeer - The Moody Blues Follow You Home - Nickelback Bad For Good - The Scorpions Remember The Good Times - The Scorpions
What bands do you hope do more recording/touring in the coming year? Why, my three favorite bands, of course!
10 songs that sum up your weekend...or were on your weekend playlist...and one picture that relates back. (oh, and if you feel like it, tell us why you picked the songs you did)
Since yesterday was Christmas Day, there is a lot of Christmas music on my playlist!
1. Christmas Island - Jimmy Buffett 2. When A Child Is Born - The Moody Blues 3. Merry Christmas From The Family - Robert Earl Keen 4. Elf's Lament - Barenaked Ladies 5. Mistletoe And Wine - Cliff Richard 6. Don't Need A Reindeer - The Moody Blues 7. St. Stephen's Day Murders - Elvis Costello 8. White Trash Christmas - Bob Rivers 9. White Dove - The Scorpions 10. In Trance - The Scorpions
The last two aren't Christmas songs, but you know that I couldn't survive a day without my Scorpions!
And now for the picture...
Me by my Christmas tree, wearing my favorite Christmas gift, my Klaus-clone jacket!

An Unexpected Christmas Surprise!
When I got home late yesterday evening, I found a very pleasant Christmas surprise in my inbox. The Scorpions had sent out their annual Christmas greeting to fans, but it was what was at the end of the email that got me excited.
They are working on a new album!!!
Can I hear a great big
Merry Christmas to me!
Maybe, if I'm a really good girl, the band will come someplace near here when they start the tour for the new album...

From The Family
Here it is, the dreaded Christmas family photo!
We are (left to right): Raymond, "the estranged one", me, and Michael. The little ball of fluff on Michael's lap is our dog, J. J.

My Christmas Wish
It is my wish that someday for Christmas and the whole year through that we will all live in a world without hatred. There will be no war, since governments and individuals will have learned to respect each other's differences and will no longer try to force their beliefs upon those who disagree. Predjudice will be abolished. No person will be ostracized merely because of the color of her skin, his religious beliefs (or lack thereof), or her sexual preference. We will all have learned that these things are not important. What a beautiful world it will be!
Until that day comes, here is my Christmas wish for today...

The Time Is Upon Us
The cookies are baked. The house is alight with twinkling colors. The presents are wrapped.
It is time for me to sit back and relax with a cup of sugarplum and spice herbal tea with Christmas carols playing in the background. I can now forget all about the craziness of the past month. It is over. Christmas is here!
May the love of the Christ child fill you with joy and bring you happiness throughout the coming year!

On The Twenty-fourth Of December
Lady Starlight gave to me...
It's Christmas Eve, time to put all snark aside and remember the true reason for our Christmas celebration, the birth of the Christ child.
I happened upon this meme on Melisa Sue's blog and thought I'd have a go at it...
1) Egg Nog or Hot Chocolate? Hot chocolate if I'm driving, egg nog if I'm not!
2) Does Santa wrap presents or just sit them under the tree? Santa is a very busy man. He doesn't have time to wrap presents. He puts them in great big gift bags, one for each person.
3) Colored lights on tree/outside or white? I like lots of pretty colored lights on my house and tree.
I've shown you my tree. This is my house...
4) Do you hang a mistletoe? Hang it?! I've been known to wear it on my head! Anything for free kisses!
5) When do you put decorations up? On a good year, I start decorating sometime during the first week of December.
6) Your favorite holiday dish (excluding dessert)? Egg noodles served with ground walnuts are my favorite Christmas Eve dish. If there is a special name for this dish I do not know it.
7) Favorite Holiday memory as a child? Getting the Suzy Homemaker oven that I wanted so badly, even though I had been told that I couldn't have one.
8) When or how did you learn the truth about Santa? Honestly? When I was about 10 years old, I discovered all of my Christmas presents hidden in my parents' closet. I faked belief that year because I felt bad about snooping. Christmas was never the same after that...
9) Do you open any gifts up on Christmas Eve? Absolutely not!
10) What kind of cookies does Santa get? Santa has to stay up all night on Christmas Eve, delivering presents. As a mail carrier, I can sympatise with him. Santa gets coffee and doughnuts from me!
11) Snow, love it or dread it? Let me put it this way: Let it snow, Let it snow, SOME PLACE ELSE!
12) Can you ice skate? I don't know. I've never tried.
13) Do you remember you favorite gift? I've received so many beautifil gifts over the years, I could never remember a single one of them as my favorite.
14) What is the most important thing about the holidays for you? Lest we all forget, Christmas is not about Santa, or presents, or decorations. It is about CHRIST and his gift of love to the world.
15) What is your favorite holiday dessert? All of them!
16) What is your favorite holdiay tradition? Our family has always had a very special meal on Christmas Eve. The Christmas candle is lit. We say grace, share the "oplatki" (Christmas wafer), toast each other with wine, and dine on a fine meal which usually features chicken and seafood.
17) What tops your tree? This year there is a star atop my tree. In years past this place has been held by angels, Santas, and other assorted sparkly toppers.
18) Which do you prefer, giving or receiving? A little of both.
19) What is your Favorite Christmas Carol? Stille Nacht AKA Silent Night
1. Don't Need A Reindeer - The Moody Blues 2. Merry Christmas From The Family - Robert Earl Keen 3. Mistletoe And Wine - Cliff Richard 4. White Christmas - Bing Crosby 5. Happy Christmas (War Is Over) - John Lennon

On The Twenty-third Of December
Lady Starlight gave to me Another silly Christmas MP3!
What happens when Rudolph takes ill just in time for Christmas Eve? This song should give you a clue.
Rules of the game: Post five weird and random facts about yourself, then at the end list the names of five people who are next in line to do this. Don't forget to leave a them comment that saying "You are tagged" in their blogs and tell them to read yours!
1. I have two sons. I never wanted to have any daughters. When I was pregnant with my second child, people would drive me crazy by saying, "Oh, you're trying for a little girl this time, right?" I was NOT! As a matter of fact I told my doctor during both of my prgnancies that if the baby was a girl I was going to make her put it back!
2. Touch one of my guitars without first asking my permission and you will find yourself in the emergency room of the local hospital nursing several broken fingers! I just hate it when people think that they can just pick them up and start playing with them. Even Matthias Jabs would be subject to this pet peeve of mine!
3. I have a collection of porcelain baby dolls. They are all boys. Girl dolls are so ordinary...
4. You can use my nose to predict winter weather! Seriously, I have some sort of freaky allergy that acts up every time that a snow storm is brewing.
5. I am not allowed to make the coffee at work. I like what some people call "army coffee," you know, the kind that is strong enough to stand up in the cup and salute. They, unfortunately do not. Oh, well, I didn't want to brew coffee for them anyway!
And now it's time for me to name the next five victims:
Kjersti, Russ, Elena, Sweet Rosie, and Khushrenada13.

On The Twenty-second Of December
Lady Starlight gave to me Mrs. Claus being ever so naughty!
Could it possibly be true? Is Mrs. Claus cheating on Santa with someone named Nannook?! Listen and decide.
In less than four days, Christmas will be here. I'm beginning to feel the stress, HEAVILY! There is so much that I still need to do! My online Christmas card has not yet been created. I know what I want to do, but it still hasn't come together. All I can say is, expect another "Santa Klaus" this year!
The gift buying still is not done. I have nothing for my brother and only one small gift for Ray. Mom and Dad have gifts, small ones that will come with a little something green. My sister-in-law has a gift, as does "the estranged one." Dammit! I've got to get him something more. He bought me a gorgeous jacket that is very similar to the one that Klaus is wearing in this picture.
It cost a mint! I can't believe that I got him to buy it for me, but now the Steelers sweatshirt that I bought for him pales in comparison.
I need to do a bit of grocery shopping as well. I promised my mom that I'd buy some orange roughy for Christmas Eve dinner. We haven't had it for such a long time, but it's really reasonable at Aldi's.
Only $6.99 per pound, woot!
I did manage to accomplish one thing today. I baked a few batches of triple chocolate chunk cookies...
Virtual cookies, anyone?!

On The Twenty-first Of December
Lady Starlight gave to me Nothing, absolutely nothing!
Just joking, kiddos! Today's bit is a classic about what bad little girls like myself find under the tree on Christmas morning.
List some songs that are about wintery weather December Snow - The Moody Blues November Rain - Guns 'N Roses Lonely Nights - The Scorpions
What artists always give you the chills when you hear them? I can think of only one artist whose voice is so incredible as to give me chills. That would be...
Michael Crawford!
What?! You thought I was going to say Klaus Meine? Nope, his voice has an entirely different effect on me!
What's your favorite album with a "wintery" feel to it?
December - The Moody Blues But only because The Scorpions still haven't done the Christmas album that I wabt them to do so badly...

On The Twentieth Of December
Lady Starlight gave to me A song about a Christmas, stress free!
Don't we all dream of having a happy holiday without all of that stress that comes along with it? Today's bit of Christmas snark offers a simple solution to all of our holiday stress problems!
1. Name 1 toy you owned when you were younger, that meant a lot to you. I guess that the toy(s) that were most important to me as a child were my "Sinky Bunnies." These were little stuffed bunnies with floppy ears, a flannel body, and a cute little black nose. I got one every year for Easter, since... well... love hurts... they HAD to be replaced annually! I lierally loved these toys to death.
2. Name 2 games you enjoyed playing as a child. Candyland and Don't Spill The Beans! It's quite amusing to watch how these games and their packaging change over the years. Both of them are still being produced.
3. Name 3 foods you didn't like as a child, but do now. Spinach, although I'm not certain that I ever really disliked it. I was just conditioned to think that I didn't. Pizza. How odd that I didn't learn to like pizza until I was in junior high school. Mushrooms. As I got older I discovered the these fungi are really quite tasty!
4. Name 4 foods you didn't like as a child, and still don't like. Raw tomatoes, liver, catsup, and beets. YUCK!

On The Nineteenth Of December
Lady Starlight gave to me Christmas wishes from a disfunctional family!
Robert Earl Keen and his clan are back for today's bit of Christmas snark. How many of his kin can you recognize from the last song?
