I've spent much of my free time today ripping music for my two current mixed CD projects. In the process, I discovered some real treasures that I had forgotten that I had. One was found on Tesla's Five Man Acoustical Jam. I'm not fond of a lot of Beatles covers, but their cover of We Can Work It Out is excellent! I also uncovered Eric Clapton's cover of the Elvis Presley classic, Hound Dog. I don't know how I forgot about that one! That's two more for the Covers mix which still needs several more songs before it is full.
The Hair Metal A to Z mix is proving to be quite a challenge as as well. I'm trying to get a good variety of artists on the CD. So far I have selected songs by The Scorpions, Def Leppard, Guns 'N Roses, KISS, Ace Frehley, Gorky Park, Winger, L. A. Guns, Wild Horses, Poison, and Slaughter. I'm going to have to forgo putting Skid Row on it because I discovered that someone had spilled something on my CD (rendering it unplayable) and quietly slipped it back into its case. WAHHHH!!! No Eighteen And Life on my Hair Metal Mix.
The main problem with this A - Z mix is that certain letters have an abundance of usable songs, while for others it is damned near impossible to find just one song. I have no clue as to what I am going to use for X and Q! At least I have The Scorpions' (The) Zoo for Z!
Oh, well, I'll think of something. If anyone has any suggestions, feel free to post a comment. Alas, some of my problem lies in the fact that many of my metal albums from the 80s were purchased on vinyl or cassette. How could I have possibly known back then that I'd be wanting to do this now?
